Jiulixiang's curing method

How to Care for Jiulixiang:

First, Placement: Jiulixiang should not be kept in a dark room for long periods. It thrives in semi-shade and needs protection from direct sunlight during the summer. In winter, it's best to place it in a greenhouse where the temperature remains above 5°C. To maintain humidity, always keep a small bowl of water nearby.

Second, Watering: Jiulixiang prefers moist conditions, but when grown in pots, the soil can dry out quickly. If not watered on time, the plant may suffer from dehydration and eventually die. Bonsai trees need regular watering, but overwatering can lead to root rot. Excess water prevents the roots from breathing properly, which can cause the tree to decline. The key is to water only when the soil is slightly dry, and ensure that each watering is thorough.

During hot summer months, water your Jiulixiang once in the morning and once in the evening. In spring and autumn, you can water it once a day or every other day. In winter, reduce watering to a few times a week, and avoid watering on rainy days. When using fertilizer, make sure to water immediately after applying it. It's best to let tap water sit for a day before use, and a watering can with a fine spray nozzle works well for even distribution.

Third, Fertilization: Since the potting soil has limited nutrients, it's important to supplement with appropriate fertilizers to support healthy growth. However, because bonsai trees grow slowly, over-fertilizing can lead to excessive growth, which may affect their aesthetic appeal. Choose the right type and concentration of fertilizer based on the tree’s stage of development.

The three main nutrients needed for plant growth are nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). Nitrogen promotes leaf and branch growth, phosphorus supports flowering and fruiting, and potassium strengthens stems and roots. Adjust your fertilizer choice according to the specific needs of your Jiulixiang bonsai at different stages of growth.

When applying fertilizer, keep the following tips in mind:

1. Organic and cake fertilizers must be fully decomposed before use. Otherwise, they can burn the roots and damage the plant.

2. Liquid fertilizers should be diluted before application. Using them too concentrated can harm the plant and lead to overgrowth.
