Phenolic insulation board
**Introduction to Phenolic Insulation Board**
Phenolic insulation board is a modern, non-flammable, and fire-resistant insulation material made from phenolic foam. It is a rigid, closed-cell foam produced by adding foaming agents, curing agents, and other additives to phenolic resin. Its main advantages include being non-combustible, producing minimal smoke, and withstanding high temperatures. This material overcomes the drawbacks of traditional foam plastics, such as flammability, excessive smoke, and deformation under heat, while retaining the benefits of light weight and ease of installation.
**Product Advantages**
1) **Excellent Fire Performance**
The insulation layer is made of phenolic foam and can be combined with other materials for building insulation. It meets the national fire protection standard A level, significantly reducing the risk of external insulation fires. The product can function effectively in a wide temperature range of -250°C to +150°C.
2) **Outstanding Thermal Insulation and Energy Saving**
With a thermal conductivity of approximately 0.023 W/(m·K), the phenolic insulation board offers superior thermal performance compared to most inorganic and organic insulation products currently available on the market. This results in better energy efficiency and reduced energy consumption.
3) **Versatile Applications**
This material is suitable not only for traditional exterior insulation systems but also for composite panels with decorative finishes. It can be used in EPS/XPS/PU exterior wall insulation systems as a fire barrier, as well as in fire doors, curtain walls, and both low-temperature and high-temperature environments. It is especially recommended for use in workshops where temperatures exceed 50°C.

**Applications**
Phenolic foam has a thermal conductivity of about 0.023, which is roughly half that of polystyrene (0.042). It is classified as non-combustible (Grade A) and can withstand temperatures up to 150°C. Its cost is comparable to polyurethane, but unlike polystyrene or polyurethane, it does not burn easily and is more resistant to high temperatures. This makes it an ideal solution for fireproof insulation in buildings.
The phenolic insulation board is non-melting, non-deforming, produces low smoke, and resists flame spread. It provides excellent fire protection and good thermal insulation, making it perfect for exterior wall applications.
**Common Application Forms**
1) Double-sided aluminum foil (for wall insulation and decoration, air conditioning ducts)
2) Single-sided color steel and aluminum foil (for air conditioning ducts)
3) Single-sided galvanized sheet and aluminum foil (for air conditioning ducts)
4) Surface composite with other materials like bonding agents and mortar (for fire-rated wall insulation)
5) Color steel sandwich panels (ideal for steel structure workshops, clean rooms, pharmaceutical facilities, and more)
**Additional Options**
Customers can choose from various surface materials such as aluminum sheets, kraft paper, etc. Since the 1990s, phenolic foam has seen significant development. Initially valued by military sectors in the U.S. and UK for aerospace and defense applications, it later found use in civil aviation, ships, oil rigs, and other areas requiring strict fire safety. Over time, it has been widely adopted in high-rise buildings, hospitals, and sports facilities.
