Sanmao Superhard Disc Technology Project won the National Science and Technology Awards
Abstract Recently, the China Machinery Industry Federation and the China Mechanical Engineering Society issued the "Notice on Commending the 2013 China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Awards Project" under the document number Zhongji Lianke [2013] No. 525. This notice recognized outstanding achievements in science and technology within the machinery industry. Several institutions and individuals were honored for their remarkable contributions. Among them, Zhengzhou Abrasives Grinding Research Institute Co., Ltd. was awarded the "China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award" for its work on developing key technologies for super-hard material grinding discs used in precision and high-efficiency double-face grinding.
The successful implementation of this project addressed critical technical challenges in the production of ultra-precision, large-diameter, and high-efficiency super-hard grinding discs. It marked a significant breakthrough in China's precision grinding technology, enabling the development of products that match the quality of imported alternatives. This achievement not only enhanced domestic capabilities but also reduced reliance on foreign suppliers.
The project significantly narrowed the technological gap between China’s superhard abrasive manufacturing and international standards, driving progress in the abrasives industry. It improved the performance of domestically produced superhard materials, bringing them closer to foreign counterparts. This advancement provided crucial support to local enterprises, helping them compete more effectively in the market.
Additionally, the project led to cost reductions of over 30% for end-users, enhancing the competitiveness of their businesses. It also played a vital role in training a team of skilled professionals, creating 30 new job opportunities and contributing positively to employment growth.
