When cutting insulation, tilt the knife slightly and use the rounded edge to avoid cutting the wire core. Never cut directly perpendicular to the wire, as this can cause damage. Always ensure the insulation is removed before making a joint, and use safe techniques like step stripping or beveling.

Remember, never use pliers as hammers, and avoid cutting live wires with them to prevent short circuits. With proper care and technique, these tools can last for years and make your work much easier.
