SABIC will introduce new ultra-high melt PP resin

The new material SABIC® PP 514M12 can be used in a wide range of personal hygiene products and other peripheral markets. This product is the first in a series of new high-flow resin compounds that SABIC began researching and developing two years ago and is expected to be put into commercial use by the end of 2018.

The challenges facing the current health market and the ever-increasing demands of customers have prompted the entire health care industry chain partners to accelerate the development and development of innovative solutions. SABIC regards challenges as opportunities, keeps an eye on market trends and dynamics, and strives to introduce smart products to meet market demand.

SABIC® PP 514M12 is phthalate-free and odor-free, highly elastic, spinnable and uniform in texture, providing good processing properties for meltblown fibers. The resulting nonwoven fabric has high insulation and absorption, and is light, thin and breathable through the ultra-light and high-performance fiber mesh, which can reduce consumables.

Meltblown fibers made from SABIC® 514M12 polymer have a final melt flow rate of more than 1,000 g/10 min, creating a potential solution for ultra-light, thin, non-woven fabric production with the aim of providing better product resistance Abrasive and breathable while maintaining good isolation.

The ultra-high absorption and isolation of nonwovens based on SABIC® 514M12 polymer has also been verified in hydrostatic head tests, which are also used in the sanitary care industry for spunbond/meltblown/nonwovens. General requirements for sticky (SMS) proprietary configurations.

In addition, SABIC® PP 514M12 polymer is phthalate-free and provides high purity and improved customer experience through a single material technology, which is quite different from current meltblown resins and benchmark blends. The polymer resin is supplied in regular granules for ease of handling, storage and use.

The personal hygiene industry is constantly looking for advanced material solutions to help manufacturers continue to produce products that enhance the safety, convenience and functional experience of consumers while pursuing sustainability and cost control. SABIC's new polypropylene products for the manufacture of meltblown fibers are designed to meet these challenges while meeting stringent hygiene and consumer protection standards.

SABIC® PP 514M12 can be easily customized to specific customer and application needs. Through the trials carried out in cooperation with the latest high-speed machines of specialized machine manufacturers, the new melt-blown PP was used for mass production, confirming its high-quality processing performance.

Subsequent sampling of selected nonwoven fabric manufacturers demonstrates that innovative materials are ideal for a variety of potential end-use products, including diapers, sanitary napkins and other hygiene products. In addition to being used as a single material and a composite nonwoven, it can also be used as a base resin for color masterbatches.
