Professor Feng Naixiang's team used sodium fluorotitanate as a raw material and aluminum as a reducing agent to prepare titanium metal powder and by-products without titanium cryolite (a flux in the electrolytic aluminum industry, an opacifier for making milky white glass and enamel).
