Preheating the magnetic pump body (including the body and seal welding structure) b. Surfacing the sealing surface with cemented carbide c. Insulating for 12 hours d. Heat treatment to eliminate thermal stress e. Rough turning of the sealing surface f. Semi-fine turning of the sealing surface g. Fine turning of the sealing surface h. Grinding the sealing surface using specialized tooling j. Making grinding tools for the sealing surface Special treatments and instructions during the process include: a. Before welding, the alloy is pre-heated to reduce stress generation. After welding, annealing is performed to relieve residual stress. To prevent hot cracking during surfacing, the magnetic pump uses a method that fixes the substrate and performs symmetrical welding to balance thermal stress. b. During the heat treatment phase (step d), the workpiece is placed into the furnace along with the tire to eliminate thermal stress. This helps release internal stresses and maintain the original shape, keeping radial deformation under 3mm. Minor deformations can be corrected to meet processing requirements. c. In the semi-fine turning stage (step f), all dimensions except the sealing surface are machined to their final size. The sealing alloy surface is ground by 0.6mm. A test model is made at any time to check the alloy surface and ensure the curvature of the sealing area. Any minor shrinkage porosity from the build-up welding can be repaired through welding. d. In the fine turning stage (step g), the bolt and valve plate sealing ring are first assembled and welded together. A penetration test is then conducted to ensure no leakage. After welding, the sealing surface is processed to meet the final product tolerances and eliminate deformation caused by the magnetic pump welding. The sealing surface processing technology is particularly challenging due to the rigid structure of large magnetic pump valves, the hard alloy surfacing, and the high hardness of the material. The amount of feed is very difficult to control, making it hard to achieve consistent results in actual production. Additionally, the sealing surface has a certain curvature, requiring custom templates to test the arc shape during processing. High surface roughness standards also demand specific tooling to ensure quality.
