Feng Jun believes that the development of UHV will also help optimize the allocation of energy resources. It is reported that over a long period of time, China's energy resource allocation mode has relied excessively on coal transportation, and electric power development has been dominated by provinces (autonomous regions) and self-balancing, and transportation pressure has been increasing. In 2011, the national railway coal shipment volume reached 2.27 billion tons, which accounted for 58% and 65% of the railway freight volume and coal production, respectively, which increased by 7 and 5 percentage points respectively compared to 2006; and the coal transportation of coal exceeded 500 million tons. It is estimated that by constructing UHV and smart grids by 2020, new installed capacity will be reduced by more than 30 million kilowatts, investment will be saved by more than 100 billion yuan, annual water discharge capacity will be reduced by more than 34.3 billion kilowatt hours, and wind capacity will be reduced by more than 37.2 billion kilowatts. At that time, it was equivalent to saving about 31 million tons of coal.

The development of UHV will help promote the joint development of the eastern and western regions. China's central and eastern regions have a relatively developed economy but lack of energy resources, while the western region has abundant coal, hydropower, and wind power resources.
