Inside the pump body, there is a spool valve ring equipped with an eccentric wheel, which is fixed on the central shaft. The shaft aligns with the centerline of the pump body, ensuring smooth rotation. Attached to the spool valve ring is a rectangular slide valve stem that moves vertically and horizontally within the semicircular guide. This movement divides the pump chamber into two separate sections, referred to as chambers A and B.
As the pump operates, the volumes of these two chambers change periodically. During the suction phase, gas enters the expanding chamber, while during the compression phase, the gas is squeezed and expelled through the exhaust valve. This cycle ensures continuous pumping action. For two-stage sliding valve pumps, the design involves two single-stage pumps connected in series. These pumps often have both high and low vacuum chambers housed within the same casing, sometimes cast as a single unit or separated by a partition.
