Brazil and Boeing to develop aviation biofuels

Boeing of the United States, Embraer Brazil and the Sao Paulo Scientific and Technological Association held a press conference in Sao Paulo on the 26th to announce that the three parties signed a letter of intent for the joint development of aviation biofuels.

The three parties announced that the joint development of aviation biofuels is aimed at creating a sustainable aviation biofuels industry in Brazil. At the initial stage, the three parties will jointly support the establishment of a corresponding scientific research center in Brazil to carry out sustainable development of various options for existing biofuels. Advantages and disadvantages are assessed for sexual and economic benefits. After the assessment is completed, scientific research results including the "road map" of technology will be announced by the end of 2012. Afterwards, it will focus on the technical, commercial, supply, and sustainability aspects of aviation biofuels.

According to Donald Linaker, Boeing's international business manager, Brazil has already demonstrated its leading position in developing biofuels for land transportation, focusing Brazil’s scientific research capabilities and developing new aviation and low-carbon biofuels.
