TheDawn of Pakistan reported that a team of nine researchers from Pakistan and China found a fungus called Aspergillus tubingensis in the rubbish that could biodegrade "polyester polyurethane" (PU).

Dr. Sehroon Khan, the lead author of the study, the World Agroforestry Centre and the Kunming Institute of Biology, said the team spent a very long time looking for ways to degrade the “naturally existing plastic particles”. got the answer.

“We decided to take random samples from the junkyard in Islamabad to see if anything was 'dining' on plastic, like the organics that ate on dead plants and animals.”

After discovering the genus Tabin, the research team observed it in three environments and tried to find the ideal environmental conditions for the most effective decomposition of PU. It was found that from the perspective of biodegradation, the best is Sabouraud dextrose agar. The plate (SDA) is followed by liquid and soil.

Without any external force, the plastic itself will take decades to decompose. Even in the case of possible carcinogens and other deadly pollutants, even the decomposition process will be very threatening to human life.

The discovery of the genus Tabin is a good way to solve this threat. The use of this fungus through waste disposal sites may not contaminate water and soil.
