IBM research and development of copper zinc tin sulfur solar cells
According to Nikkei BP, IBM in the academic magazine "Advanced Energy Materials" published a paper claiming that solar cells made of copper, zinc, tin and sulphur achieved a conversion efficiency of 11.1%, which is the highest in the world. According to reports, this battery was jointly developed by IBM and Solar Frontier, Tokyo Yinghua Industry and DelSolar.
The newly-developed solar cell is about 2cm square and purple, which is slightly different from the 9.6% cell that IBM released in 2010.
