3 CATIA tool library generation process

The CATIA tool library generation process is shown in Figure 4. The program is written on CATIA's VBA. The CATALOG file is the location where CATIA recognizes the tool magazine and cannot be changed at will. When the CSV file data is written to the CATALOG, the log file corresponding to the write is created at the same time, and the same path exists to facilitate the search for errors.

After the file and data are checked for errors, the function CreateCatalogFromcsv is responsible for converting the CSV file into a CATALOG tool library file. Among them, the CreateCatalogFromcsv function is a method under the object CatalogDocument, the parameter csvFile is the input parameter, which represents the CSV file path, and the catalogFile is the output parameter, which is the output tool library CATALOG file path.

It should be noted that due to the strict format requirements of the CSV file, only the correct data format CATIA can be identified. Therefore, when adding tools to the PPE platform, you must have a complete error checking procedure before the database is written and written to the CSV file to ensure the correctness of the data format.

in conclusion

Based on the research and development of PPE platform, this paper studies the establishment technology of CATIA tool library, and proposes a method of creating tool library in CATIA using CSV file, and realizes the integration of PPE platform and CATIA tool library by database. Tools on the PPE platform and CATIA software can be added, deleted, and updated simultaneously. This method has been tested multiple times in the platform and is currently working well. The successful application of this method has the following effects:

(1) Using this method to establish a tool library that conforms to the actual situation of the enterprise, so that the selected tool of NC programming is closely linked with the production site, ensuring the applicability of the NC program;

(2) When performing numerical control programming, the tool is directly selected from the tool magazine, which greatly reduces the workload of the numerical control programmer to set the tool parameters and improves the programming efficiency;

(3) The continuous updating of the contents of the tool magazine allows the tool cutting parameters optimized by machining inspection to be retained, allowing the department to share the knowledge and experience of the expert level, thereby improving the efficiency of CNC machining and reducing the production cost;

(4) Combine the applicable tools in the actual programming with the tool magazine management to guide the tool warehouse manager to purchase efficient tools.
